The tourism industry is one of the main pillars of Egypt’s economy. When international flights stopped and the crowds of tourists disappeared from the main attractions, the country lost billions of dollars. Many industry giants faced crisis but the effect was even worse on those who depend on tourism as the only source of income providing camel tours and similar services. According to the president of the Travel Agents Trade Union Bassem Halaka, despite billions lost in revenue, the tourism sector is gradually recovering.
